"Starfish" is a female driven story about grief, healing, friendship, family and the strong bond between dogs and humans. It's touching, funny and a tad romantic.

A film for viewers who like stories about people and relationships.

It's also a film for dog lovers and for anyone who has experienced loss.

Director: Shira Levin, Writer: Shira Levin, Producers: Shira Levin and James Kwei

With: Margaret Curry, Christopher L. McAllister, Pascal Yen-Pfister, Sophia Colon Roosevelt, Lois Markle

I had an incredible experience in September 2016 filming the lead character, Lily, in Shira Levin's beautifully written independent feature film. We shot in the shore town of Westbrook, CT. I fell in love with the water views and the people there who welcomed our production with open arms and generous hearts and pocketbooks.

I deeply connected to the subjects explored in this film from the moment I first read the sides. As you probably know about me by now, I am drawn to stories of the ordinary heroes, the overlooked or unseen, the underdogs of this world -- the quiet moments that can sometimes hold such huge movement. Starfish contains issues that are near and dear to me and deeply relevant to my life and handles them with wonderful humor and poignancy. You can find out more here.

I just have to toot the horn of my friend and fellow actress, Callie Harlan. In addition to being a talented and hard-working actress, she is also a writer, producer, director and songwriter! Her short film "The Wisdom Tree" has been garnering film festival selections and awards! I am so proud of her, and

I had to share her with you. Please check her and the film out!
